In Paris, we went to Hediard (equivalent to Fortnum & Mason in the UK; still affordable for someone earning a minimum wage) and passed by Maille (gosh, a shop exclusively for French mustard) and watch shops – selling watches ranging from 50,000 to 75,000 €. Hawkers are not allowed to sell on the trains in the suburban trains in Bombay. There is a lady who regularly sells sarees. She gets caught one day and she pays a penalty of 400 Rupees (4GBP). This does not deter her. She continues doing her job as she has no other option. Eventually she manages to buy a flat in an apartment complex in the suburb of Bombay. Her dream is to send her kids to a English language school. I admire her entrepreneurial skills. If only more women have the courage like her.
Watching ‘The wings of desire’ the following thoughts just flowed through my mind. The sun does it job dutifully. The cicadas drown us in its monotonous noise in Campinas. Do the cicadas not have hearts ? What about the songs of the nightingales and the blue-jays ? The owls and the sparrows. Is this what is called as the monopoly in nature ?
I see this tree outside my flat with magnificent yellow flowers. The flowers fertilise. The pods arrive. They hang precariously and at times, the wind knocks it down. The tree with its many hundred pods is unable to bear the heaviness. Is the tree like a mother ? Water has the ability to blend with the surroundings. Named as Agua, Aqua, Jal, Paani in a variety of languages. Didn’t you notice its multiple personalities as snow, ice, vapor, steam? Remember the early morning dew? What an ethereal pleasure to walk on the grass, wet with morning dew, in the dawn of the day. Water has the innate ability to encompass everything on its way. Like a mother having an enormous bosom for her loved ones. The first drop of food has water as the main ingredient. Kudos to our Water.
